POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Human Resources Assistant position is responsible for supporting the mission of the school through assisting human resources processes related to benefits administration, compliance, hiring, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, and other matters related to employment. This is a part-time, twelve-month hourly position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting or a related field.
  • Evidence of continuing professional education through conferences, seminars, or professional associations is preferred. 


EXPERIENCE

  • At least five years of professional experience in progressively responsible positions in non-profit or education sector is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles of Catholic and Jesuit education is preferred.

  • Working knowledge of employee benefit principles and practices including compliance laws and regulations.

  • Demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of the job including one’s appearance and behavior.Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (OneDrive, Gmail, Good Drive, Shared Docs), payroll systems, and related software.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with overseeing the employee benefits program including conducting annual review of benefits offered to faculty and staff and work closely with brokers and benefit providers.
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate records of benefit plan participation, personnel transactions such as new hires, promotions, terminations and employee statistics.
  • Assist with educating and communicating with employees regarding their benefits, and employment rights and responsibilities.
  • Assist with ensuring all benefits for a newly hired employee are completed.
  • Assist with processing invoices to ensure that all payments are properly posted and paid in a timely manner.
  • Assist with handling employee questions or concerns regarding benefits related matters.
  • Assist with managing workers compensation program and injury claims.
  • Assist with overseeing annual online training for all employees.
  • Assist with coordinating benefit events year-round.
  • Assist with overseeing and auditing benefit profiles, deductions, end dates, employee elections, and benefit invoices.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate employee benefit records with vendors.
  • Assist with ensuring ACA Compliance for part time, full time, and terminated employees.
  • Assist with filing mandatory compliance reports, including but not limited to, workers comp, EEOC, RxDC, and ensuring compliance standards and filings are effectively implemented. 
  • Assist with hiring and onboarding process.
  • Assist with general accounting duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
